The modernization and reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, on the section from Belgrade to Stara Pazova, started in late November 2017.

The job worth USD 350.1 million was put in charge of China Railways International and China Construction Company
, which are now inviting interested companies to submit bids for execution of works under tracks, works on the railway superstructure and the procurement of materials.

As said, this tender is open to firms and Joint Ventures from Republic of Serbia and other countries in Europe.

As specified, works under tracks will be carried out on the sections Belgrade Center-Zemun (Subsection I) and Zemun Batajnica (II), whereas superstructure works will be carried out on the whole section (III). The scope of procurement of materials for Subsection IV includes rails, switches, sleepers and fastenings.

The tenderer can prepare these four tenders at the same time, and one tenderer is not restricted to win one tender.

More details about the terms of these tenders can be found HERE.

As announced earlier, at the Belgrade Center-Stara Pazova railway line, the construction and electrical infrastructure will be completely reconstructed and modernized, so that trains from Belgrade to Batajnica could travel up to 120 kilometers an hour, and from Batajnica to Stara Pazova, where there will be four tracks, up to 200 kilometers per hour. Now the trains on that line start at a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

The plan is for this section to be completed within three years and for the entire high-speed Belgrade-Budapest railway to be completed in six years.

Let us remind that the modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest railway is the first cross-border project within the cooperation of China and CEE countries, jointly realized by Serbia, Hungary and China.
