Serbia will get 120 million euros credit from EIB for development of local infrastructure and modernization of clinical centers - contract has been signed

The Government of Serbia and European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed today (December, 12th, 2008) two contracts about credits in the total value of 120 million euros for development of local infrastructure and for modernization of clinical centers in Serbia.

Vice-President of the Government of Serbia for European integrations, Mr. Bozidar Djelic, stated at the press conference that 70 million euros will be used for renovation of clinical-hospital centers in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, and 50 million euros is going for the local infrastructure.

Mr. Djelic expressed his expectations that by the end of March, they will have finished agreement with EIB about credit worth 250 mil euros, purposed for financing of liquidations of small and middle sized enterprised in Serbia.

The Contract about 120 million euros credits has been signed by the Minister of finances of Serbia, Mrs. Diana Dragutinovic and by the Vice-President of EIB, Mr. Dario Scannapieco.

Mrs. Dragutinovic gave more precise information that 50 million euros credit purposed for the local infrastructure would be realized through the Ministry for National investment plan of Serbia.

-The credit has been approved in accordance with EIB standard conditions, with payment period of 20 years and purposed for financing of projects such as rehabilitation of road networks, schools and objects of cultural value, said Mrs. Minister.

She also added that the credit for the 4 clinical centers in Serbia would help increasion of hospital beddings for 6.000.

- The credit of 70 million euros will be realized through the Ministry of health of Serbia, and payment period is 25 years - added Mrs. Dragutinovic. Both credits should be ratified by Serbian Parliament during 2009.

Vice-President of EIB, Mr. Dario Scannapieco stated that this credit represented the second phase of entire loan of 200 million euros for clinical-hospital centers of Serbia, out of which 80 million eur had already been realized during 2006.
