Aptiv starts employing in Leskovac – Factory worth EUR 25 million to be completed in the second half of 2018
– The number of 2,000 employees would mean an increase of the employment rate of 9.8% in Leskovac and a considerable increase in public revenues – the City points out.
Aptiv, which started building the Leskovac plant as Delphi, changed its name following last year's split of operations of the British automotive company Delphi into two independent companies – Delphi Technologies and Aptiv.
Aptiv produces electrical and electronic equipment for vehicles and operates in 45 countries of the world. In Serbia, it produces cables for car manufacturers throughout Europe. In addition to Leskovac, they also have a factory in Novi Sad.
The company is building a production hall with administrative and side facilities (guardhouse, external warehouse and waste water reservoir) with slightly over 27,000 m2 in total at the Leskovac Green Zone. The mayor's cabinet says that the investment is worth at least EUR 25 million, of which around EUR 17.5 million is the investment in the facilities themselves.
The Belgrade-based company Gradjevinar is in charge of the construction, and the deadline is November 2018.
– When it comes to the test run and the opening of the factory, the date depends on the investor alone. We certainly expect the factory to start operating right after the facility is built, that is, in the second half of the current year.
Aptiv is the first investor in the Leskovac Green Zone.
– We expect other investors to arrive as well, and we are already negotiating with some of them – the mayor's cabinet announces.
