Minister of Infrastrukture, Milutin Mrkonjić, said that Belgrade should get two subway lines within the following seven years and that the Chinese were interested in their development.

Mrkonjić said that the total lenght of those two subway lines should be 14 kilometers and that the entire project was worth over 1 billion EUR.

- It is possible to build 6 kilometers of subway lines with eight stations during the first four years, and then the rest would be developed within the next three years. Once it obtains two lines, Belgrade will be able to set aside 80m EUR every year, which is enough for construction of 1 km of subway lines - Mrkonjić explained.

He added that the first line would go from Vukov Spomenik station, via Tašmajdan, the Parliament, and then across the Sava to Fontana in New Belgrade. According to his words, a combined bridge (road and subway bridge) would be built across the Sava, which could be done in two years. The Minister said that the second subway line would go from Kalemegdan, past the Parliament, via Prokop, to Autokomanda.
