Facebook changes its mind – Explore Feed to be canceled
Unlike News Feed, News Feeds, a dedicated place with posts from friends and family, Explore Feed was a dedicated place for posts from Pages.
The experiment tool several months and encompassed Serbia, Slovakia, bolivia, Guatemala, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.
Surveys showed, however, that users weren't satisfied with this new feature.
Adam Mosseri, Head of News Feed, said that people had told them that they were less satisfied with the posts they were seeing, and having two separate feeds hadn’t actually helped them connect more with friends and family, Mashable reports.
– People don’t want two separate feeds – Mosseri said.
He added that the company had concluded that Explore wasn’t an effective way for people to discover new content on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the company continues to experiment with other types of feeds. Facebook recently began testing a dedicated feed for local news called "Today In," which is available in six cities.
They also continue to invest in Facebook Watch, the company's dedicated section for video content.
