The South Korean company Essex, manufacturer of enameled copper wires and cable products, should start building a production facility in Zrenjanin in March.
The value of the investment is EUR 30 million
, and the plan is to employ 200 workers, it was said during the visit of Ambassador of South Korea to Serbia Yoo Dae Jong to Zrenjanin, the city's website reports.
– The talks with Essex took a long time. We have managed to reach an agreement regarding all their requests and there's nothing standing in the way of the realization of this investment anymore – Mayor of Zrenjanin Cedomir Janjic pointed out.
He added that the possibility of the arrival of other investors from South Korea had also been discussed at the meeting.
– We have used the opportunity to promote our industrial zone, which we are expanding to 550 hectares, which hardly anyone in Serbia can offer in a single place today, and we practically have equally as much city-owned land to spare. Among other things, this is what qualifies Zrenjanin as a good place to invest in – Janjic said.
Ambassador Yoo Dae Jong visited Industrial Zone Southeast-Ecka and the location in which the Essex facility is to be raised and said that “this South Korean company deals in high technology, which will act as an additional incentive and opportunity for the progress of Zrenjanin”.
Let us remind that the City Assembly of Zrenjanin adopted the decision
to have land in Industrial Zone Southeast allocated to the branch of Superior Essex Group at the price of RSD 29 million in November 2017.
The company is a global leader in designing, manufacturing and delivering wire and cable products. It will build a facility of 14,000 square meters and 2,000 square meters of office space on the plot of land exceeding seven hectares.
