Opportunity bank in Serbia obtained 6m EUR from EFSE to finance micro enterprises in south Serbia
Opportunity bank in Serbia announced that it had obtained the loan of 6m EUR from the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) to finance micro enterprises.
The President of the Executive Board of Opportunity bank, Roger Vorhiz, said that that would enable approval of many loans, especially in the region of south Serbia. According to the announcement, Opportunity bank obtained the first loan from EFSE, in amount of 5m EUR, last year.
Since the beginning of their operations in Serbia (2002), Opportunity bank approved over 65m EUR worth of loans to small and mid-sized enterprises and, thus, helped creation of about 5,000 new jobs.
Since its establishment in 2005, EFSE fund has invested over 78m EUR in seven local partner institutions in Serbia. That money was used for allotment of 20,000 loans to small enterprises and households in Serbia.
