A test run with 250 employees is currently in progress at the plant of the Turkish company Birlesik Tekstil in Lazarevac, which has bought the former Beko factory, and the full production with 600 employees will start by the end of February, Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali announced on January 24.

He said that the employees were satisfied with the conditions and that the average salary was RSD 33,000.

– This is not a small salary for Lazarevac, and each new job is important to us – the mayor said and pointed out that the Turkish company had not received any state subsidies for this investment.

He also said that, once the plant started operating at full capacity, the second phase would begin in 2018 in which the Turkish investor would build a new facility on 4,500 m2 and employ another 600 people.

– If they are satisfied, we will go for a third phase as well and another several thousand employees – Mali said.
