Second call for cross-border projects of Serbia and Bulgaria announced – Another EUR 12 million from IPA fund

The Interreg program Bulgaria-Serbia continues to finance projects of cross-border cooperation in the border region.

The second call for projects within this program, co-financed from Instruments for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II) of the European Union, was announced on Monday, January 22, 2018. The period in question is 2014-2020, says the website of the Interreg IPA program Bulgaria-Serbia.

Slightly over EUR 12 million of IPA funds has been set aside for the financing of projects within the second call.

It is added that, within this call, projects to be financed will belong to the categories of sustainable tourism (tourist attractiveness, cross-border touristic product and people-to-people networking), youths (skills & entrepreneurship and people-to-people networking) and environment (joint risk management and nature protection).


As specified in the call, the cross-border cooperation program includes six districts in Bulgaria (Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Sofia, Pernik and Kyustendil) and seven districts in Serbia (Bor, Zajecar, Toplica, Nisava, Pirot, Jablanica and Pcinja).

The deadline for submission of project proposals in electronic form is April 23, 2018.

The total budget of the program amounts to EUR 34,102,256.
