New York Times includes Belgrade on list of places to visit in 2018
The accompanying blurb points out that “the city’s chaotic, violent past is visible in the rundown Soviet-era buildings that still pepper the city, but Belgrade is an energetic town on the rise”.
It is further added that the neglected area along the Sava River is being transformed into a promenade lined with cafes and food trucks.
– In the summer, the area pulses with parties on houseboats known as splavovi – the article says and adds that more hotels mean it’s easier to join the party.
There are 16 other European locations on the list, among which are only a few major cities – Glasgow, Prague, Oslo and Seville.
No other place in the region placed on this year’s list.
