Unipromet to start exporting to Emirates and Iraq – Cacak-based company to step up monthly steel processing by 2,000 tons
– The company is stable, it employs 450 people and exports 72% of its production. We expect this year's results to be even better, as we've penetrated two new markets, Abu Dhabi and Iraq. The latter have contacted us, as they've recognized us as the leading company in this field. I'm going over there to sign the contract on January 10 – says Milisav Novicic, owner of Unipromet.
– We process over 5,000 tons of steel a month. We are in the process of putting three new lines into operation, which will enable us to increase the processing by around 2,000 tons, making us one of the biggest purchasers of steel from Zelezara and one of the leading exporters in Serbia – he adds.
The biggest problem Unipromet faces is the lack of educated workforce. The company is always seeking mechanical and civil engineers, economists and various tradesmen, but they are hard to find.
As Novicic says, if the trend continues and if the young are not kept from leaving Cacak, the city's economy has no future.
– We need mechanical and civil engineers, as well as economists, not to mention various tradesmen. We lack welders, locksmiths, and drivers and machine operators are leaving for Europe – he explains for Ozonpress.
Let us remind that Unipromet was founded in 1990, and the company's core activities are production and installation of road equipment. In the meantime, they've positioned themselves as one of the regional leaders in the production and installation of steel protective fences, portals and vertical signalization poles, as well as various types of noise protection. They are realizing a constant growth.
