Protocol signed on completion of construction of railway station "Prokop"
Contract on completion of railway station "Prokop", which should be built within next year and half, was signed on October 17, 2008, in Belgrade. Total value of works is about 100m EUR.
The contract was signed by the Minister of Infrastructure, Milutin Mrkonjić, the Minister of National Investment Plan, Verica Kalanović, and the Mayor of Belgrade, Dragan Đilas, in the presence of Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.
Cvetković said that the development of railway "Corridor 10" was equally important as the road section of that Corridor and he pointed out that the infrastructure was necessary for attracting foreign direct investments.
He announced that the construction of road section of "Corridor 10" would be completed during the mandate of current Government, while the development of railway infrastructure would last longer.
Mrkonjić pointed out that three men were responsible "for commencement of development of the entire infrastructure on 'Corridor 10'" -
the President of Serbia, Boris Tadić, the Prime Minister, Mirko Cvetković, and the Mayor of Belgrade, Dragan Đilas".
He promised that railway station "Prokop" would be finished within the next year and half and that the Sava amphitheater, currently the Main railway station in Belgrade, would be disburdened.
The CEO of "Serbian Railways", Milanko Šarančić, reminded that the projects for construction of "Prokop" had been launched in 1974 and that the first contract on development had been signed with "Energoprojekt" in 1996.
Šarančić pointed out that the useful surface of 128,000 square meters would be developed for office space above "Prokop" station.
