Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sunday, December 17, 2017, that Corridor 10 would be completed the next year and that he expected the works on the most complicated section through the Grdelica Gorge to be finished before June 2018.
He also said that 92% of the section had been completed.
While taking a tour of the 26.5-km section, Vucic said that he was not pleased that the works were late, but that he believed that everything would be completed the next year.
– The workers are truly working hard and I believe that everything will be done by late May or early June, except for one pipe through the Manajle tunnel – Vucic said and added that the second pipe through the tunnel should be completed before November 2018.
Vucic also said that seven kilometers of the road on the eastern branch of Corridor 10, near Pirot, would be completed around the New Year and added that the most difficult section was the one around the Sicevac Gorge.
– Once that section is completed, Corridor 10, both its eastern and southern branches, will be fully finished next year – Vucic announced.
The total length of the highway through the Grdelica Gorge is around 26 km, and it consists of two sections: Grdelica – Caricina Dolina, 11.8 km long, and Caricina Dolina – Vladicin Han, 14.3 km long.
Two large tunnel are being built in the Grdelica Gorge – Predejane, 1.8 km long, and Manajle, around a kilometer long, as well as two big interchanges and 33 bridges in the total length of 5.7 km.
The works are financed from the loan of the European Investment Bank, and the total contracted value of the works is EUR 234.18 million.
