More money for six ministries in 2018 budget – Ministry of Finance to get most

Six ministries within the Government of Serbia will have a larger budget in 2018, whereas ten ministries stand to receive less, Politika writes in the issue of November 10.

The final form of the 2018 budget is not yet known, but Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic has already set limits to spending in ministries.

The daily learns that the ministries of internal affairs, foreign affairs, defense, justice, health and construction will receive more money in the next year.

The budget of the Ministry of Finance, although the largest one, will be three times lower than this year’s budget. Less money will be set aside for the ministries of public administration and local self-government, economy, agriculture, energy, labor, sports, trade...

The Ministry of European Integration, founded this year, will have the lowest amount of money at its disposal (around RSD 470 million), whereas the Ministry of Finance is to have the biggest budget (RSD 417 billion), Politika reports.

The state budget for 2018 is planned based on the projection that the growth of the GDP will stand at 3.5%, and that the inflation will be 3%. A pension raise of 5%, as well as salary raises by 5 to 10% in the public sector, are included in the calculations.

The plan is for the budget deficit in 2018 to be at 0.7% of the GDP, Politika writes.

Let us remind that Vujovic said that the 2018 budget proposition would be adopted by the government before the end of November and that he expected the budget to be adopted by the parliament within the legal deadline of December 15.
