Turkish cargo train to pass through Serbia instead of Romania
The test-train will travel from the Halkali terminal in Turkey to the Viennese terminal of WienCont. According to the planned schedule, for now, two trains per week will pass through Serbia, with the tendency of increasing the traffic frequency.
The client's decision to redirect its trains towards Serbia has also been influenced by the fact that Serbia Cargo has hired a special security service, which will accompany each train, thereby providing additional safety of the transport of goods through Serbia and proving the competitiveness of the Serbian railway corridor when it comes to transport from Turkey to western Europe and vice versa, the press release says.
Safety, quality, cost-effectiveness and a “shortcut” through the railway Corridor 10 through Serbia will send a positive signal to all potential clients looking to transport goods from the east to the west, it is added.
