First contest for IPARD funds in second week of December – EUR 40 million for agricultural mechanization and manufacturing industry

Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic announced that the first contest for the funds from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance in Rural Development (IPARD) would open in the second week of December.

– The first contest will relate to the allocation of funds for tractors and mechanization, and the contest for the manufacturing industry should open in February or March 2018 – Nedimovic said and added that, of the EUR 175 million provided to Serbia in the first EU aid cycle, 40 million would be available.

He added that, on October 16, Serbia had filed its application to the European Commission, whose representatives will carry out the control on Belgrade from November 20 through 24, following which Serbia should receive approval for drawdown.

Nedimovic also said that the National Milk Control Laboratory should start operating in December, whereas the food quality control laboratory should become operational in February or March 2018.

Talking about the measures towards ameliorating the consequences of drought, he said that six measures aiming to provide help in the autumn sowing or the buyout of agricultural products had been implemented until then and announced further measures, such as the one relating to a facilitated payment of irrigation compensation.

Nedimovic said that he didn't yet know when the measure related to helping agriculturists in procuring fuel was to be adopted, as the issue was still being discussed with the Ministry of Finance.
