(Illustration) The building permit for the construction of the Science-Technology Park in Nis has been acquired, and, if the tender for the contractor is successfully completed, the construction will begin in the spring of 2018.
Assistant to the mayor of Nis and professor at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis, Goran Djordjevic, said that the construction of the Multifunction Annex, a part of the Science-Technology Park system, should begin in the spring of 2018 as well.
– The Multifunction Annex will have nearly 6,800 square meters, whereas the Science-Technology Park will have 14,000 square meters. The deadline period for the construction of the annex will be 14 months, and the deadline period for the construction of the Science-Technology Park will be 22 months – he added.
Djordjevic stated that the construction and equipping of the two facilities with the latest devices would require EUR 15 million and that the funds would be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
He also said that around 500 highly educated experts ready for business were expected to work at the Multifunction Annex and the Science-Technology Park and reminded that the Startup Center, in which Serbia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invested RSD 41 million, had opened at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis the previous month.
– The entire system is designed so that innovative ideas are created at the students' Startup Center, developed at the Multifunction Annex and realized at the Science-Technology Park – Djordjevic said.
