Option of construction of Beko plant in Serbia still open

Beko, one of the leaders in the production of household appliances, opened its office in Serbia in 2015. In two years, they have become one of the strongest brands in Serbia. According to Arel Atakol, General Manager of the company, the option of starting the production in Serbia, which was discussed at the time, is still open.

– We have realized a fast and strong growth and we have recently opened our 18th factory and signed a contract in India, which will become the 19th location. Once we become the leader in this region, which is not far off, we will start dealing with this idea. On the other hand, we have nearly tripled the number of employees in three years and, as we promised at the time, in three years, we will have around 100 employees here, not counting the production department – Atakol says.

He adds that he is satisfied with the business climate in Serbia, but that there are certain problems both in Serbia and in other countries of the region that need to be solved, such as harmonization with European standards.

– Investors are always looking for stable markets, and Serbia is becoming increasingly more stable – Atakol says.

According to him, the arrival of Beko to the market has encouraged other Turkish investors, primarily in the textile industry and the automotive industry.

– For this reason, I hope that we will discuss our investment as well one day. There are educated people who love challenges here, which makes for a good investment climate. I said that when I arrived here and now I'm completely sure of it – Atakol said.
