Slovenian company "Perutnina Ptuj" will invest 20m EUR in chicken meat factory "Topiko" in Bačka Topola in 2008.

- Another investment worth 20m EUR will be needed next year in order for "Topiko" to become an European factory - said Roman Glaser, Executive Manager of "Perutnina", which is the majority owner of "Topiko".

According to his words, it is necessary to reconstruct units in the factory, install new production lines and machines and introduce new technology in "Topiko", so that its productivity could be at at the level of "Perutnina's", which would make it the leading manufacturer of chicken meat in Serbia.

Glaser said that "Topiko" covered 10% of the chicken meat market in Serbia and he added that that percentage must be increased because the production terms in Vojvodina made it possible.

- We want to use the advantages of Vojvodina's planes and achieve cheaper production of chicken meat through better organization of work - said the Executive Manager of Ptuj-based "Perutnina".

As Glaser explained, this factory uses corn and soybean produced on Vojvodina's fields for fattening chickens, but "Perutnina" does not import soybean from Vojvodina because the price of that soybean is somewhat higher than the price of soybean imported from Brasil.
