The Port Governance Agency has opened the first public invitation for the port operator at the passenger terminal in Smederevo, which will be in charge of signing passengers on and off.

The offered amount of the annual port fee cannot be lower than EUR 2,973, and the selected bidder stands to receive the right of lease for a maximum of 10 years.

The right of participation in the process is held by legal persons registered for performing port activities, having, among other things, professional, trained staff, being equipped technically and technologically for performing port activities and having the capacity for continual upgrading.

Bidders must also submit the plan and program for performing port activities in the period subject to the approval request, as well as the economic feasibility study of the investments it intends to make towards maintaining the port and keeping it attractive and towards increasing the turnover.

Those interested need to buy the documentation by September 14 and to sign an Agreement on Keeping Confidential Data when taking over the documentation, whereas the bid submission deadline is September 25.

As the Port Governance Agency announced for eKapija earlier, the opening of the passenger terminal in Smederevo is expected to take place by the end of 2017.

Let us remind that this is one of the seven passenger terminals the construction of which was initiated by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in 2015 and 2016. In addition to Smederevo, passenger terminals have been built in Kostolac, Veliko Gradiste, Kladovo and Golubac, whereas the remaining two, those in Beocin and Sremski Karlovci, are to be built in 2018.

So far, the terminals open for international transport in Serbia are those in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Donji Milanovac. In 2016, 952 passenger boats docked at these terminals, carrying around 118,600 passengers.
