A delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia visited several factories of the arms industry of Kazakhstan, the companies Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering and Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering, on September 4. Also, Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin met in Astana with Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov to discuss the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense industry.

– We have already agreed with Minister Atamkulov to have an exchange of expert delegations and to start cooperating in concrete projects of modernization of certain air defense systems, but also the transfer of technologies. Our Kazakh colleagues are very interested in cooperating with our companies: Jugoimport, Milan Blagojevic, Krusik. They are also interested in cooperating with Yumco. There's room here for a whole range of our products and for the transfer of technologies as well, that is, whatever our experts and engineers can display and transfer here – Minister Vulin said.

He added that it would be an important stimulation for Serbia's defense industry and that it was only up to the country whether it would utilize the political impulse provided to it.

Discussing the local defense industry, Vulin said that the Government of Serbia had invested EUR 50 million in the defense industry for the first time in history and that it was the first significant investment since the establishment of the defense industry of Serbia.

– Our companies are liquid, they are operational, and now they have a market in Kazakhstan, which is our ticket to the Central Asian market, which has 60 million residents. These are rich countries looking to develop their armies and invest in their defense industries. This is our opportunity and we could truly make use of it – Vulin emphasized.

Expressing his satisfaction over the international exhibit EXPO 2017, Minister Vulin invited interested Kazakh companies to invest in Serbia at the end of the meeting.
