Jagodina to get aircraft plant and airport – Aero East Europe Kraljevo to open facility for production of light plane Sila
The investment will speed up the beginning of the construction of the airport in Jagodina for airplanes with up to 80 passengers, which will have a very important role in the development of tourism and economy of Jagodina, the Morava Valley and the part of Serbia between Belgrade and Nis, Markovic explained to the press.
Owner and manager of Aero East Europe, Milorad Matic, visited Jagodina on March 3 and landed with one of his planes from Kraljevo to the sports and training plane runway of the Aero Club Jagodina, the future airport.
Matic said to the press on the occasion that his factory “has a market, exporting to 20 countries of the European Union, having delivered 163 planes to Italy, Spain, France, Sweden and Germany so far” and that there was a very good demand from the USA, but that it worked at only 50% of its capacities due to a lack of working assets.
The planes produced by his factory fly at 210 km/h, consume 12 to 15 liters of fuel and cost EUR 50,000 and up.
Matic said about the Jagodina airport at the time that “it has a great, important position, being located close to the town, which is very important”.
Markovic previously said for Tanjug that Jagodina intended to build an airport for planes with up to 80 passengers in the location and that, in addition to tourism, the airport would have a very important role in the economic development of Jagodina and this part of Serbia.
Jagodina is now around 140 kilometers away from the Belgrade Airport and over 100 kilometers away from the Nis Airport, and the construction of this facility would therefore allow investors from Italy, Austria, Russia and Germany with factories in Jagodina to fly from Bari, Saint Petersburg , Vienna or Frankfurt directly to Jagodina, Markovic explained.
The said runway ground, the core of the future airport in Jagodina, is around six kilometers away from the town's center. It is registered and has had an exploitation certificate since 2010. It has an area of around 40,000 square meters, and, according to the plan, it should have a head office building, a runway, a tower, two gas stations...
Jagodina had an airport until 1951.
