Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Safari have already blocked Flash over the past year, but Adobe is now planning to completely discontinue support for Flash by the end of 2020.

Countless games, educational materials and video websites still use Flash. Microsoft says that Flash will stop being the default platform on Edge and Internet Explorer by the end of 2019 and that it will be fully removed from all Windows versions by 2020.

Google will continue shutting it off in the next couple of days, whereas Mozilla says that Firefox users will be able to choose which sites will be able to run Flash and use it without problem by the end of 2020.

Apple intends to keep it in a similar fashion, and Safari currently requires explicit consent for each site, even if users themselves have installed Flash.

The end of the era of Flash carries with it improved security and an extended battery life on mobile devices.
