American companies Uber and John Deere interested in investments in Serbia

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic talked with representatives of American companies, such as CISCO, General Electric and others, in Washington, on July 17, presenting the investment options in Serbia to them, and got a positive response from some of them.

At the meeting, the company Uber expressed interest in entering the Serbian market and investing in the tourism sector, whereas the company John Deere showed interest in infrastructural projects in Serbia.

The head of the Republic of Serbia also met American businessmen at Capitol Hill, at the Business Council for International Understanding, which brings together around 200 companies interested in investing in various sectors.

The meeting with Vucic was attended by representatives of various companies, among them CISCO, Coca-Cola, Uber, Rio Tinto, General Electric, John Deere, NCR, Motorola, Freeport, X-Cube and other companies from the fields of mining, construction...

Representatives of the Business Council estimated that the economic relations between the USA and Serbia were on the rise and that there were considerably more opportunities for enhancing the trade and the arrival of a greater number of American investors.


Big possibilities for cooperation were recognized primarily in the automotive industry, the IT sector, the pharmaceutical industry and the industry of renewable energy sources.

President Vucic informed the representatives of big American companies about the economic reforms that Serbia had undertaken in the previous years and of the improvement of the business climate.

He pointed out that a lot was being invested in improving the road infrastructure and that the country was politically stable, as well as that Serbia had a program of incentives for investors, making it one of the best investment destinations in the Balkans.

The Business Council promotes investments and cooperation in commerce and aims to stimulate the local industry, as well as development, in the countries American companies invest in.

According to the latest data, the total trade of the USA and Serbia amounted to USD 574.5 million in 2016, which is 6.5% more than in 2015.
