Serbia among founders of Silk Road Support Group
This informal group was founded by 17 countries, namely, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Spain, Switzerland, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, the National Assembly of Serbia reported.
On July 5-9, the 26th annual session of the OSCE PA, in which the National Assembly of Serbia also took part, was held in Minsk. As part of the OSCE PA, the Silk Road Support Group was formed at the initiative of Azay Guliyev of Azerbaijan, Vice President of the OSCE PA.
The group aims to support further development of economic cooperation, promotion of economic and commercial ties, development of multimodal transport corridors, as well as a free flow of people, goods, services and capital.
In his speech at the founding assembly, the head of the Serbian delegation, Stefana Miladinovic, pointed out that Serbia was taking active part in the process of cooperation between China and 16 countries of central and eastern Europe and estimated that the potentials for cooperation were great and that the biggest benefits from the realization of numerous projects would be felt by the citizens in the countries along the Silk Road.
The group's Statute was signed by Miladinovic and Dusica Stojkovic, member of the delegation, on behalf of the Serbian delegation.
In addition to Miladinovic and Stojkovic, delegation members Meho Omerovic and Milimir Vujadinovic took part in this year's session of the OSCE PA.
