Cigarette manufacturers have increased the price of a pack by RSD 10 in order to bring excise taxes in line with the new excise tax calendar. Since Monday, July 3, 2017, the packs produced at the Vranje-based plant British American Tobacco will be more expensive, and Nis-based Philip Morris is to increase the prices at the end of the week, on July 7, as well.

The new excise tax calendar for cigarettes will be in effect by 2020. The harmonization of excise taxes will still be conducted each January and July.

According to the new calendar, the specific excise tax equals RSD 1.5 and, until now, it “burdened” each pack with 64 dinars, whereas the state will be taking 65.5 dinars from July1 till the end of 2017.
