The business portal eKapija, in cooperation with ICE – The Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, published the fifth Special Issue of the newsletter Italy – Partner Country, on the subject of Innovations in the Agrarian Sector, on May 27.

Italy is one of the most important foreign trade partners in Serbia's agricultural trade. Good political and economic relations have been established between the two countries and they are constantly enhancing, and the good institutional cooperation in the past years has resulted in the signing of several bilateral agreements in the field of agriculture.

Ambassador of Italy to Belgrade, Giuseppe Manzo, says in his interview for the Special Issue Innovations in the Agrarian Sector that the economic cooperation between Italy and Serbia is growing better year by year and that Italian companies are among the leaders in key sectors, among others in agriculture and agribusiness. He says that the Italian embassy has recently prepared a short guide for Italian entrepreneurs interested in investing in Serbia. He also points out that the long expected investments of the company Ferrero is now a concrete reality.

We talked about the cooperation and strategic partnership of Italy and Serbia in the field of agriculture, as well as about joint project activities, with Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Branislav Nedimovic. According to the minister's announcements, the bilateral cooperation with Italy in the field of health protection and well-being of animals, the supply of veterinarian drugs and aids, food safety and quality, as well as its categorization, is expected to intensify in the coming period, as are the establishment of cooperation on a higher level and the enhancement of Italian investments in Serbia's agricultural sector.

A special section of the newsletter is dedicated to Italian experiences applicable in Serbian fields. To that end, we talked to experts dealing in organic production, precision agriculture and compost production in Italy at the recently held Novi Sad International Agricultural Fair.

Giovanni Mafodda, Director of ICE Serbia, which had two quite prominent conferences at the Novi Sad International Agricultural Fair, reveals in his interview for eKapija what the results of Italian companies' participation in the event are, as their arrival was organized by ICE itself.

Giorgio Venceslai of the Institute for Services for the Agricultural and Food Market (ISMEA) explained to us the principles of precision agriculture and noted that farmers could be convinced of the efficiency of the implementation of innovations by profit only.

Alvaro Crociani of the Crop Production Research Center (CRPV) believes that a public-private partnership is the key to innovative agriculture, whereas Federico Valentini of the Italian Composting and Biogas Association (CIC) says that managing organic waste has its ecological and commercial aspect.

Innovations are also saving Italian villages, as explained in our interview with Luca Mercatelli, Project Manager at the AREA Science Park, which stimulates rural development, culture and tourism.

Business agreements are often made at big international fairs. Through our interview with Marco Acerbi, director for fair events at the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation (FederUnacoma), we present the International Exhibition of Machinery, Plants and Technologies for Agricultural Production, Agrilevante in Bari. The most important Mediterranean agricultural machinery fair is organized by FederUnacoma on October 12-15, 2017.

We also had the opportunity to learn about the potentials for development of the dairy sector and its results in Italy and Serbia. Fabio del Bravo of ISMEA told us about the special characteristics of the Italian production model. We talked to Gianpiero Perna of the Consortium for the Protection of Buffalo Mozzarella of Campania about the importance of having agriculturists join together.

You will also be able to read about the importance of the protected designation of origin, which is a way towards increased security of milk and dairy products marketing, and you will also learn interesting things about mozzarella, one of the most sought after, useful and beloved cheeses in the world.

Don't miss interesting stories about paste wheat and social agriculture either.
