In three years, government pays RSD 9,6 billion for maintenance of 3.000 km of roads - Tender for remaining sections on the way

Bids at tender for maintenance of 3.000 km of roads in Serbia will be known in July, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said, adding that by the end of the year tender will be released also for the remaining 13,000 km of roads.

- This is the beginning of the road sector reform. The objective is to have modern, high quality and maintained roads - Mihajlovic said, adding that this means that Serbia will be able to clearly see costs of maintenance and structure of these costs. She pointed out these tenders are a chance for local road construction company, in order to organize and become sustainable.

Mihajlovic also said that the road workers will get job for three years, although they asked it to be for five years.The Acting Director of Putevi Srbija, Zoran Drobnjak said tender was published for 3,000 km of roads on the territory around Krusevac, Vranje and Nis.- We will select contractors by the fall. So far, the company worked in line with the pricelist of Putevi Srbije and now it will not work at the prices they receive during a tender and they will, for three years, provide a guarantee for good performance - Drobnjak said, adding that annual maintenance of these 3,000 kilometers costs app. RSD 3, 2 billion.Drobnjak said that Putevi Srbije, for a total of 16,200 km of roads in Serbia, get app. RSD 5.7 subsidy for maintenance and that they expect app. RSD 19 billion of revenue from tolls.
