The Belgrade-based company Jomil Group is initiating the production of tractors in Vrdnik in cooperation with the Chinese producer of tractors, combines and construction machines Zoomlion.

– A hall of 8,500 square meters on 5 hectares of our own land has been designated for the purpose. Initially, we would assemble tractors from imported elements, whereas, later on, we would produce most of the key components ourselves. The tractors from the joint factory, in which Jomil is the majority owner, will be of high quality and affordable to local customers – explained the president of the Belgrade company, Jovan Cekovic.

Since Serbia is importing duty-free tractors from the EU and Belarus, whereas the customs duty on Chinese tractors of more than 50 hp is 15%, Jomil points out that, in line with the expansion of economic and other types of cooperation with China, something needs to be changed. It would suit them if the duty on the import of components were reduced or abolished, and the entire project requires state aid. Jomil wants the future factory to be one of the topics of the talks between Serbia and China.

The civilian program of Jomil also encompasses the extension of the tourist season in the eco-village of Kostunici to 365 days a year.

The period from October till April is a dead season in this tourist and recreation settlement, the first eco-village in Serbia. The plan is therefore to build a spa center with 3,500 square meters and the accommodation capacity of around a hundred guests in a tour, featuring wintertime pools, saunas, Turkish baths...

Aid from the state fund for the development of tourism is expected for this project as well, and Jomil believes that it will be provided. As they say, the spa center and the factory in Vrdnik will employ dozens of young people from the village areas.

The tourist complex and the health food and drink factory in Kostunici are a part of the civilian program of the Belgrade company Jomil, know as an important partner in equipping the land army of the Republic of Angola.
