Kanjiza to get waste water treatment facility in 2020 – Value of IPA project with Hungary around EUR 6.98 million

The value of this project, which is being realized from the funds of the European Union within the program of cross-border cooperation between Hungary and Serbia, is around EUR 6.98 million, of which the support from the EU funds amount to around EUR 5.93 million. The realization of the project starts on June 1 and will last for the next three years, until May 31, 2020. In addition to the leading partner, Ativizig from Szeged, the participants in the project are the Municipality of Kanjiza and the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.
The biggest part of the funds from this project will be realized in the neighboring Hungary, and the value of investment in the Municipality of Kanjiza is EUR 1.9 million, which is the biggest donation realized in the past decades, according to Fejsztamer. The amount of EUR 890,984 has been set aside for the Provincial Secretariat.
– Ativizig is the leading partner, and the funds we receive will enable us to build and improve the capacity of waste water treatment facilities in Kanjiza. This infrastructural investment will provide us with the capacity to enable everyone in Kanjiza to have their own connection to this system, not just natural persons, but legal persons as well – Fejsztamer emphasizes.
He adds that, in these three years, all investments envisaged by the cross-border cooperation project need to be realized. These are investments in solving the problems of inland waters and floods, so that such a system and cooperation should be established as to enable the prevention of problems with floods and inland waters in the border area.
The program aims, as pointed out, to enhance the ability to adjust to extreme occurrences, periods with excessive or insufficient precipitation, which are a consequence of climate changes in the Serbian-Hungarian border area, as well as to preserve natural goods by improving the quality of the surface waters. These investments should contribute to creating favorable conditions for water management and enhancing the ability to keep the populace in the region.
On the Hungarian side, the task of Ativizig in this project is to build the second phase of the water supply system in the Homokhatsag area and a delivery pipeline with a diameter of 900 millimeters and a length of 531 meters, to reconstruct 4,665 meters of the main canal Domaszek for a twofold purpose and to build a pumping station. Furthermore, they are to procure the machinery for maintaining the canal and construct the network of drought monitoring stations in the area.
The Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry is to procure 2,500 meters of a mobile flood wall and to train 45 flood defense experts from Serbia and Hungary.
The task of the local self-government of the Municipality of Kanjiza is to develop devices for waste water treatments on the territory of the municipality and increase the capacity and efficiency of waste water treatment, thereby improving the quality of the water of the river of Tisa.
