The works on geo-technical testing of the land where new bridge across Ada Ciganlija will be built are in progress.

The representative of the Directorate for Building Land and Construction of Belgrade, Nenad Bajić, says that the contract on construction of bridge across Ada Ciganlija anticipates thorough geo-technical researches and survey of terrain, which commenced at the beginning of May.

He explained that the analysis of preliminary researches of the land where the bridge pillars should be built was in progress and that it would be followed by the elaboration of the main project for construction of the bridge. At the same time, preparation works will be carried out on the building site.

Bajić said that everything would be finished on time, that is, within 40 months from the day the contract on construction of bridge worth 118.6m EUR was signed. The value added tax of 18% should be added on that price, which increases it to 140m EUR.

The preliminary project for construction of bridge and access junctions with all accompanying studies was elaborated in 2006, while the tender procedures for selection of the planner and contractor were carried out in two phases in 2007. There were 8 bidders from six countries on these tenders.

The contract on construction of the bridge was signed with the consortium led by Austrian Porr on April 9, 2008. The bridge across Ada Ciganlija will be 929 meters long and 45 meters wide.
