Advanced software analytics predicting Eurovision winner
The prediction game has been joined by Microsoft, which has employed its advanced software tools to analyze data for the purpose of entertainment.
As the company announced, by using a wide range of data from the web, social networks and search engines, combined with the data on the history of voting, Microsoft has created a unique real time model predicting who will qualify for the final and win the contest. These strong solutions can offer very precise results when it comes to events such as these. The Microsoft Bing team successfully guessed the winner in 2015, as well as the entire top five at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2016, and its 2017 Oscars prognosis was 71% correct.
It's especially interesting to point out the importance of predicting and updating the variables in real time, since various signals from the web and social networks influence voting patterns. Microsoft follows those signals and combines them with relevant data from previous years, enabling the Bing team to identify the most prominent voting patterns and predict the most likely outcome. All the data included in the analytics model are anonymous and cannot be ascribed to individual users.
Microsoft invites the audience to have fun by following the latest prediction while waiting for the May 13 final.
