Tourist stock exchange "City break" opened in Belgrade - more than 174 exhibitors from 30 countries

Tourist stock exchange “City Break” has been opened today (June 9, 2008) at the Belgrade Fair. This event gathered more than 174 exhibitors from 30 countries and 120 large tour-operators.

Executive Manager of "Reed Travel Exhibitions", Mark Walsh, said at the opening that total purchasing power at "City Break" was 500m EUR and that that should be used during the next two days of the Fair.

Walsh said that “city break” – short vacation in cities, was very popular and that it was constantly growing in the world, so that the agencies registered increase in number of bookings for such vacation in 2008 by 17-20%.

President of "European Cities Marketing" (ECM), Frank Magee, pointed out that vacation in cities was popular for few reasons, the most important of which were its short duration and cheaper flying tickets.

- The tourists find short vacations attractive because of business obligations, and the trend of use of larger number of shorter vacations during the year is present - he explained.

Manager of Tourist Organization of Belgrade, Olivera Lazović, said that the guests would have the opportunity to see what Belgrade offered - its history, tradition, culture, way of life, gastronomy.

The organizers of travels, transportation companies, hotel managers and congress organizers will be able to meet representatives of companies authorized for negotiation and signing of contracts on spot during previously set 15-minute meetings at "City break".

Large number of European cities - Athens, Amsterdam, Berlin, Bratislava, Zurich, participate in the Fair, while the new exhibitors are Rimini, Podgorica, Budva, Toledo, Maribor...

Patrons and organizers of the manifestation are "Reed Travel Exhibitions", ECM, Assembly of Belgrade, TOB, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development and City of Novi Sad.
