Facebook to employ 3,000 people to monitor content

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg says that the company will employ an additional 3,000 people to monitor video content, following the complaints over an increasing number of violent clips on the social network, CNN reports. The team already has 4,500 employees.

Zuckerberg reminded on his profile that Facebook users had witnessed a lot of violent footage in the previous few weeks, whether through live video or uploaded clips.

Facebook is the target of severe criticism due to the fact that they haven’t done more to stop the spreading of video footage showing real-life crime on the social network.

Videos and accompanying textual content glorifying violence are in violation of the terms of use of Facebook. However, in most cases, users need to report the questionable material to the company, so that it would be reviewed and possibly removed.
