Bulgaria's Sunny Beach offers best value for money in Europe

The Sunny Beach resort in Bulgaria is the best value destination in Europe, according to research by Britain's Post Office Travel Money, which encompasses 19 tourist destinations in Europe.

The costs of a basket of typical holiday purchases is 37 pounds in Bulgaria, whereas, in Ibiza, Spain, the most expensive tourist resort, it is 131 pounds, BBC reports.

After Sunny Beach, the goods are cheapest in the Algarve in Portugal at just over 58 pounds, followed by the Costa Del Sol in Spain at 61 pounds.


In the period up till March, the biggest price rises were in Zadar (44%), Lisbon and Crete in Greece.

Drops in prices were recorded in the Sunny Beach (10%), Mamaris, Turkey (4%) and Paphos, Cyprus (0.5%).

The cheapest five destinations in March were the Sunny Beach, Costa Del Sol, Mamaris and Paphos and the most expensive ones Ibiza, Sorrento, Nice, Zadar and Lisbon.
