Prototype of train TGV POS (Paris – East France – South Germany), the future trains for Eastern Europe, departed from Paris with teams from French Railway companies SNCF and ALSTOM. This train of “the fourth generation“ TGV travelled at over 350 km an hour on section longer than 50 km, braking the record for asynchronous drive of high-speed train.

Certification is expected in 2006, whereas the use of POS TGV trains in regular transportation between Paris and Strasbourg, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg should start in 2007.
