The dilapidated building of the former company Sintetika has been turned into a huge modern facility for the needs of Jeanci Serbia, which will move part of its production there and employ another 300 people of Leskovac. The facility is owned by the city of Leskovac and was bought with the money of the local self-government and a donation of the Government of Serbia, and Jeanci is only to use it for its purposes.

Mayor of Leskovac Goran Cvetanovic says that the facility will be completed in a month. He reminds that three tender procedures were carried out last year related to adaptation and reconstruction, and the opening of the fourth one, worth RSD 43 million, is expected in a week.

– Following the completion of all the final works, the building will be given for use to the Turkish company Jeanci, which is planning to expand its capacities and employ 300 new workers here. Having in mind our experience with Yura, I can say that the purchasing companies in bankruptcy and giving them for use to investors has proven to be a good model for enhancing local economic development – Cvetanovic said.

There are currently around 130 employees at the construction site, of which 90% from Leskovac and the surrounding area.

The director of JP Direkcija i Urbanizam, Milenko Milenkovic, says that this is a pioneering endeavor for the company.

– Our company is in charge of preparing the technical documentation and investment management and we are gathering new experiences in this project and hope that we will be able to work on such facilities in the future as well – Milenkovic says and adds that the area being reconstructed has 16,000 square meters and that the entirety of the area is being reconstructed simultaneously.

Milenkovic estimates that the construction of a new facility of this type would cost around EUR 4 million, and that the reconstruction practically provides a new, modern facility, with only the walls remaining from the old one, for RSD 160 million.
