More than 600 local companies to build corridors – Highway construction to benefit southern Serbian municipalities
At the meeting with the delegation of the World Bank's Executive Directors in Vranje, he thanked the financial institution for their good cooperation and partnership in building Corridor 10, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure reported.
– The cooperation with the World Bank is not reflected in financing only, but also in joint efforts to solve all the problems which occurred during the realization – Poledica said.
He added that the government's interest was for the investment cycle related to the construction of Corridor 10, that is, the 160 kilometers on the southern and the eastern branches in various stages of completion, to be completed as soon as possible and for the time needed to travel through Serbia to shorten, so that as much transit traffic would return to the route as possible.
Poledica emphasized that the project was very important for the whole state, but that it also needed to be of use to local self-governments gaining access to the highway.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the local self-governments located along Corridor 10, including Vranje, Vladicin Han and Leskovac, the head of the Pcinja District, representatives of the Corridors of Serbia and the local economy, answering the questions posed by the WB delegation related to the impact of the construction of infrastructure on local economic development, the prices of property and the environment.
The delegation of the World Bank visited, before the meeting, the sections of Corridor 10 the bank is financing, including the section which have opened for traffic in the past two years – Grabovnica-Grdelica (5.6 km) and Vladicin Han-Donji Neradovac (26.3 km).
