The City Council of Nis has initiated the procedure for the disposal of 5.4 hectares of land on the Lozni Kalem location, which is to be offered to investors for the construction of an aqua-park of at least 9,000 square meters and worth at least EUR 9 million.

According to the head of the Office for the Local Economic Development, Milan Randjelovic, a study will be prepared in the next 20 days, determining the price at which the land is to be offered to investors. Randjelovic said that the study would show whether the land in Lozni Kalem could be offered at a public bidding at below its market price.

– The Decree of the Government of Serbia enables the land to be sold without compensation or at below its market price if the estimate is that five year's revenues from the realization of the investment will exceed the estimated value of the land – Randjelovic pointed out.

He emphasized that the procedure of the sale of the land and the selection of an investor should be completed during the summer.

– The investor will be obliged to complete the aqua-park in three years, permanently employ 40 workers there and have 120 employees during the summer months – Randjelovic said.

He pointed out that there was interest among investors for the construction of an aqua-park and that the Montenegrin company Aquaterra Solution was one of the strongest candidates.

Randjelovic reminded that Aquaterra Solution signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of an aqua-park with the city last year, but that the document wasn't binding for the city of Nis to award the contract to the company. According to Randjelovic, the aqua-park will be built by the investor which offers the best conditions at the public bidding.
