Potential cooperation between Zastava INPRO and GAZ - Production of superstructures for Russian trucks in Kragujevac?

Zastava INPRO, which was late last year was in the focus for nearly two-month hunger strike by several dozens disabled workers, continued, despite the problems, production of trailers for domestic market. At the same time, through Verano Motors, it began production of prototype auxiliary chassis and crates for trucks of Russian GAZ, daily Danas writes.

- We will show to representatives of GAZ upgrades we made for their trucks. Since we are sure that what we did is quality, we expect soon to sign the contract on business-technical cooperation with Russians, which would involve production of superstructures for their vehicles that Verano Motors imports to Serbia - director of Zastava INPRO Milenko Betulic says.

He clarifies that, according to national regulations, complete trucks cannot be imported to a country, only their chassis while domestic factories should be made by local comapnies. It is convenient for Zastava INPRO since both management and employees in the factory, according to Betulic, are absolutely sure that they can meet requirements of not only GAZ but also of any other world truck manufacturer.

Betulic claims there has been ongoing work on nationalization of Zastava INPRO, in a way that company debt of app. RSD 90 m to the Developmental Fund will be converted into ownership share of the state in Kragujevac-based company. The second bsis for nationalization and transformation is the fact that 90% of employees in the company are disabled workers and the disabled ones.
