Stara Pazova not issuing permit for construction of medical waste recycling center – Municipality yet to receive official request by investor

Representatives of the local self-government have reacted to the news of March 20 that the Chinese company Gient and the Belgrade-based company Sinofarm had signed an agreement on founding a joint venture for collection and treatment of medical, pharmaceutical and pathogenic waste in Serbia and the construction of a recycling center in Stara Pazova.

– The Municipality of Stara Pazova is informing the public that it has so far not received official detailed information form the companies which have announced the signing of the “agreement on founding a joint venture for collection and treatment of medical, pharmaceutical and pathogenic waste in Serbia and the construction of a recycling center in Stara Pazova” – the press release says.

– Furthermore, the Detailed Regulation Plan of the East Work Zone in Stara Pazova doesn't envisage the possibility of the construction of facilities or complexes of this type, except for the needs of warehouses or halls. In line with the current laws of the Republic of Serbia and the planning documents, we emphasize that the local self-government of the municipality of Stara Pazova is not able to issue the permits for the said use and note that the said company has not yet submitted a written request for the necessary permits – the press release adds.

The Belgrade-based company Sinofarm, one of the parties to the agreement, has a hall in the East Work Zone where it stores its medical products, the Municipality of Stara Pazova reminds.
