Srdjan Verbic becomes a member of Atlantis Group - Former minister of education to advise world governments

Former Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Srdjan Verbic, was appointed at the Third Global Forum of education and skills in Dubai as a member of the newly formed Atlantis Group, which consists of 20 former ministers of education and heads of state, the Observatory of social innovation communicated.

Verbic said education in the world has never had more challenges, but opportunities as well on the other hand, stating that Atlantis group with its experience and authority will help that education changes and that the changes are coherent, well-thought out and based on reliable and relevant data.

- The only question is whether we are aware of both. The differences between education systems are large and set of circumstances and details on the national level has a predominant influence on changes in education. However, if there is one common trait for all then it is the fact that we need to empower people in the system to give them more freedom and demand greater responsibility – Verbic said.

Atlantis Group established the Varkey foundation, in order to "raise the knowledge and experience of former ministers of education, as well as former heads of state interested in education from all over the planet, to assist in dealing with current challenges of education globally", it was communicated at the website of the Observatory of social innovation.

It was also stated that Atlantis group will act as an advisory body to governments and ministries around the world.
