Zrenjanin's Remondis Medison to expand waste treatment capacities – Company buys land for extending Ecka facility
– We are implementing our annual development plans, and our 2017 plans are related to purchase of new land in the Ecka Industrial Zone and installing a new device for thermal treatment of infectious and pharmaceutical waste, animal waste and narcotics – announced Dr Miroslav Poznic, one of the founders of the first company in Vojvodina for collection and transport of medical waste Medical Waste Disposal, which started operating in 2009 in the city on the Bega.
The company went through a dynamic development period, and, immediately after acquiring a permit for infectious waste treatment in 2015, it became a member of the multinational group Remondis Medison, which has 55,000 employees and owns the biggest recycling center in the world, located in Germany.
Last year, the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection issued a permit for storing medical and pharmaceutical waste to the Zrenjanin branch of Remondis Medison.
According to Dr Poznic, this special company, a pioneer in the field of environmental care, collects, transports and treats more than 300 tons of infectious waste a year. It produces 300,000 special containers for collecting and transporting waste and cooperates with over 1,500 health institutions from all over Serbia.
The facility in the Ecka Industrial Zone in Zrenjanin employs 15 people and their number will increase considerably following this year's expansion.
