Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic has announced that EUR 5 million will be invested in the Nis Airport and that a new airport tower will be built, the Government of Serbia website reports.

– By developing the Nis Airport, we’ve turned it into a spare airport in Serbia, where everyone can land if the weather conditions are preventing them from landing at the Nikola Tesla Airport. Last year, a total of 125,000 passengers arrived to the Nis Airport, and we expect 200,000 this year, which I am extremely proud of – Zorana Mihajlovic said.

She added that it was important that cargo flights to Turkey had been established as well, which, as she said, opens great possibilities for the economy of the entire region to reach the market as quickly as possible.

Mihajlovic said that the full completion of the road and railway Corridor 10 would turn Nis into a transportation and economic center of that part of Serbia and the region.
