Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated today that two Chinese companies were interested in Rudarsko-Topionicarski Basen Bor and that he would be happy if there were other investors as well, especially those from the USA.

– Nothing has yet been decided regarding RTB. I know of two companies which are interested in RTB Bor, but if the Minister of Economy of Serbia, Goran Knezevic, says there are more, that's great – Vucic said at the Kopaonik Business Forum.

He said that RTB debts, mostly toward the state and the creditors, exceeded a billion euros.

– In order for RTB to be operating successfully, the Majdanpek mine needs to open, which requires EUR 30 million, and then the Cerovo mine, our biggest copper site, needs to open, as do the pits in Bor – Vucic said.

He added that there were conditions for Serbia to finance the opening of Majdanpek, but that he wasn't sure whether there was money for Cerovo.

– The solution for RTB is not to appoint new management, but to privatize the company – Vucic estimated and said that it wasn't important what the privatization model would be, but for it to get a serious investor, as had been done with Zelezara Smederevo.
