The Russian company Airports of Region, member of the Renova Group, owned by Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg, has confirmed that it will take part in the contest for the concession at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.

General Director Evgeniy Chudnovskiy said that they had also been interested in taking part in the tender for the strategic investor for the Belgrade Airport three years before.

– The invitation for qualification at the tender for the Belgrade Airport has opened recently. We were interested in this project three years ago as well, and we will take part in it now – he said.

The public invitation for potential concessionaires for the Nikola Tesla Airport was opened on February 10, and the deadline for the submission of letters of intent has been extended until March 10.

The concession will be given for a period of 25 years, and companies or connected persons managing one of the airports in the region located less than 450 km away from Belgrade may not take part in the tender.

So far, alleged interested investors have included France's Vinci, Germany's Fraport and China's Shandong Hi Speed.
