Total of 430,716 tourists in Serbia in first quarter of year 2008 - 1% more than in 2007
- In
the first quarter of this year, total of 430,716 guests were staying in Serbia,
which is 1% more than in the same period last year - Tourist Organization of
Serbia announced on the basis of the data provided by the Republic Statistics
Institute.
There were 315,323 domestic guests, which is 2% more than in 2007
and makes 73% of total number of guests, and 115,393 foreign guests, which is
4% less than in 2007.
Total of 1,581,864 overnight stays were registered during the first three months of the year, which is 4% more than in 2007, 1,312,300 of which were realized by domestic tourists, which is 6% more than in 2007 and makes 83% of total number of realized overnight stays, and 269,564 were realized by foreign guests, which is 4% less than in 2007.
According to the number of realized overnight stays, domestic guests were mainly staying in mountain centers (44%) and spa resorts (26%). Foreign guests preferred the main administrative centers (59%) and mountain centers (17%).
Domestic tourists realized the largest number of overnight stays on Kopaonik - 228,854, which is 8% more than in the same period last year. On that list, Kopaonik is followed by Zlatibor, Belgrade and Vrnjačka Banja.
The largest number of overnight stays was realized by foreign guests from Montenegro - 41,090, which is 17% more than in the same period in 2007. Montenegrins are followed by the tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Italy.
