The German company Leoni will lay down the foundation stone of the Nis facility on February 24, 2017, as confirmed by Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic for Beta.

He said that Leoni had been issued the building permit and other documentation provided by the city.

Bulatovic said that the facility, the construction of which is to begin next week, should be completed by July 1, 2017.

According to earlier announcements by the city authorities, Leoni will first build a 15,000 m2 facility across from the Penal Institute, and then another two, with a total area of 25,000 square meters.

In the next few years, the German car cable manufacturer should invest more than EUR 20 million in the production complex in Nis and employ at least 2,200 workers.

The agreement on the construction of a car cable factory in Nis was signed by Leoni Management Director Clemens Sachs and Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic in October 2016.
