Companies Boticelli Land Development and V.A.S. Invest, which bring together Russian businessmen, have opened an international contest for an architectural solution for the Smokvica tourist settlement.

The contest is open until April 14, and the invitation has been sent to 15 design studios from Italy, Spain, Russia, Serbia...

The total prize fund is EUR 42.000. The best solution for the resort at Smokvica near Rezevici will be awarded EUR 20,000, the second prize is EUR 14,000, and the third one EUR 8,000.

The Ministry of Sustainable Development approved the planing document Smokvica Tourist Settlement Urban Project in 2017, which the competent institutions headed by Branimir Gvozdenovic had previously returned four times to be amended.

The new local parliament in Budva, consisting of the opposition majority, should also greenlight the planning document.

The Russian investors, gathered around the two connected companies, V.A.S. Invest and Boticelli Land Development, who bough the 13 ha land complex close to Rezevici a decade ago for EUR 20 million, have been expecting the plan to be adopted so that they could start building the first resort in this part of the seaside area, worth several dozen million euros.

The new minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Pavle Radulovic, has given his approval, and the new plan, which has been amended by the Municipality of Budva, will allow the Russian businessmen to raise two tourist settlements with three hotels with five stars and up and with side facilities. The initial version with 190 thousand square meters of gross construction area has been reduced to 110 thousand square meters.

– Fifteen qualified local and foreign legal entities have been invited to take part in the contest. The invited parties have met the criteria through their professional activities and references in the past period. The aim of the contest is to select the best and the most cost-effective architectural solution, which will valorize the potentials of the totality of the space available, as well as all the subdivisions and contact zones, and achieve a harmonized architectural form with well defined functions of all facilities in the tourist complex – the contest documentation says.
