Becej ready for construction of passenger dock on Tisa – Pontoon to be able to take in large tourist boats as well

Thanks to Serbia's investments in the development of the river infrastructure, which will contribute to increased profit in the sphere of tourist offer, but also the development of the economy and the decision of the Port Governance Agency that 16 new passenger docks should be built on the three navigable rivers, the Danube, the Sava and the Tisa, Becej will once again feature a passenger dock on the Tisa after many decades.

– Our municipality is capable of quickly initiating the port construction procedure and be among the first ones to realize the decision on the construction of a passenger dock – says assistant to the president of the municipality in charge of urban planning, construction and municipal activities, Daniela Doroslovacki, and adds that “the detailed regulation plan encompasses the section of the Tisa near Becej and envisions the construction of a marina, tourist rafts, but also a port”.

– The tourist dock is to be located in the section where the “staircase” is now and where large boats should be anchored – Doroslovacki says.

The structure in question will be a pontoon where large tourist boats will be able to dock as well. What remains to be defined is whether the dock will be open to international traffic or local traffic exclusively. Analyses and talks with the Port Governance Agency and the competent ministry will lead to the currently most cost-effective solution for Becej.

– We are waiting for the consent of JVP Vode Vojvodine for a proposition of parcel division, as a certain section of the coastal area needs to be used for the purposes of the port. Once the consent is given, we can start the project preparation procedure. To be honest, I expect that we will be able to finish the paperwork related to defining the passenger dock, open a public invitation for the operator and fully complete the job this year – Doroslovacki estimates.
